GLASGOW Phoenix Choir (GPC) is a mixed-voice choir of 120-plus singers which performs up to 40 shows a year in major concert halls, cathedrals and remote island venues.
The choir continues the legacy of its illustrious predecessor, the Glasgow Orpheus Choir 1901-1951, and this year the Phoenix celebrates 116 years of choral excellence. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Co-op Funeralcare, the GPC is now able to participate in an increasing number of concerts in aid of many worthwhile causes.
Under its conductor Marilyn J Smith MBE and accompanist and depute conductor Cameron Murdoch, the choir performs a wide range of music from choral standards to new music, often featuring delightful solo performances by choir members.
