A FOSSILISED 440-millionyear-old fungus which kick-started the human race has been discovered on Kerrera by Cambridge University scientists.
The fossil found on Kerrera is the oldest fossilised land-dwelling organism in the world.

According to a new paper published in the Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, Tortotubus protuberans is the oldest fossilised landdwelling organism ever found in the world; only sea creatures have been found which are older.
