ONE OF the best known companies on Islay has changed hands, marking the end of an era.
D and N MacKenzie has been trading for more than 90 years, starting out as a shop, post office and filling station in Port Charlotte. In 1997, the company expanded to Glenegedale, offering car servicing and car hire.
The MacKenzie family will now take a well-deserved retirement. The company has been taken over by David John Cresswell and will trade as Cresswell Cars Ltd. A COUPLE from Islay have launched a gin infused with wild heather from the island. Husband and wife Audrey and John Gow launched Islay Gin Ltd’s ‘Nerabus’ earlier this month during Fèis week. The dry gin is being produced in batches of 500 bottles and the labels were designed by their son George.
