Argyll’s finest foods

A former passenger area on Oban pier has been transformed into a café serving local produce to provide residents and visitors with Argyll’s finest foods to eat in, take home or enjoy on their ongoing travels. The social enterprise, the Food from Argyll co-operati ve has collaborated with Caledonian Mariti me Assets Ltd (CMAL) and CalMac Ferries Ltd (CFL) to find a use for the empty space formally used by Hebridean Ferries.

Customers are able to buy coffee supplied by Home Ground Coffee in Helensburgh, along with cakes, rolls, soups and hot dishes featuring Argyll produce as their key ingredient to eat in or take away. Open from early morning unti l early evening, the menu varies seasonally and showcases local food, for example, as the co-operati ve boasts a number of local smoked fish producers amongst its members, the café features one smokehouse each month.
