TRAINING PLANS
This is part two of a series of three training articles designed to help you prepare for open water racing, whether you’re aiming for a mile or a 10km marathon swim. In part one (May 2017) we looked at training sessions to work on your endurance and pacing: both key skills for open water events. In this issue, we are aiming to develop sustainable speed and increased awareness of pacing in open water. There are sessions for both pool and open water. If you are planning to do your race in a wetsuit, it would be a good idea to try to do at least some of the pool sessions in your wetsuit in an outdoor pool if you have access to one.
