• Morningstar has downgraded the Fidelity European Smaller Companies Fund from a silver to bronze rating, casting doubts on its three-pronged management style. The ratings agency revealed its thoughts on the €999m fund, claiming the lower rating “provides a better reflection of our confidence in the fund’s relative merits”. The fund consists of around 200 stocks and has been managed by Colin Stone since its launch in 1995.

• AJ Bell has dropped the Schroders UK Dynamic Smaller Companies Fund from its favoured funds list following the resignation of its two managers, Paul Marriage and John Warren, in June. The fund’s future performance was cast into doubt as they were “central” to its track record, AJ Bell’s head of fund selection Ryan Hughes (pictured) said. It has replaced the Schroders fund with the Unicorn Income Fund on the favourite funds list
