WMA and Apfa merge to give sector new voice

Merger billed as creating a stronger voice for the UK investment management and financial advice industry

The IMFA is expected to be financially positive in its first year but membership numbers are unknown

What’s the story? The Wealth Management Association (WMA) and the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (Apfa) have agreed to merge to form the Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (IMFA).

Subject to members’ approval, the IMFA was slated to be effective from 1 June, led by WMA chief executive officer Liz Field.
