When I was growing up, I didn’t suffer any obvious trauma – I went to a good school, I was intelligent and well liked, but I never felt truly part of life and I suffered with an inexplicable inner turmoil. It was as though everyone else had been given the manual for life and I hadn’t. There seemed to be a missing piece, and a missing peace. By the age of 13, I was drinking, using drugs and self-harming. I suffered with eating disorders, depression and anxiety.
