The path to wisdom

This month, I was lucky enough to interview author and spiritual teacher Deepak Chopra, to discuss how getting to know our inner self through mindfulness can help us live a happier life…

Q What technique for living a more contented life has had the most impact for you?

If you include mindfulness and all of its subsets, which come from the Buddhist tradition of awareness of breath, sensory experience, body, internal organs and mental state, it’s the ultimate path to what we would call enlightenment – getting in touch with your true self beyond the fragmented mind, which is a result of cultural, religious and social conditioning. My life is what can be described as ‘flow’ – I don’t experience regret, I don’t anticipate, I have no resistance to what’s happening right now, and that gives me richness of experience, e. ortless spontaneity, and a lack of personal concern.
