“ I was bullied at school and told that I wasn’t good enough” LISA JOHNSON, 40, COACH AT JUST OWN THIS AND FOUNDER OF CARMELA WEDDINGS
People from where I grew up in council housing usually went into an office job and made the minimum wage – you were considered to be doing well if you earned £20,000 a year. I went along with that without questioning it. I didn’t realise then that I had a bad money mindset, and was living the story other people had written for me. It didn’t help that I was bullied at school and told that I wasn’t good enough. When I was 28, I decided to get a degree. I think I wanted to prove to myself that I wasn’t what people said I was. I asked which was the toughest degree, and was told law, so that’s what I studied – and I didn’t even want to be a lawyer. I studied hard for four years while working full-time and got a high 2:1 degree.
