Winter comes with steady depletion, as the cold and dark encroach and light retreats. It can be beautiful, too. When the plants die back, they return energy to the earth. We too are served by following the season inwards – bolstering from our inner worlds out. We suffer for lack of light and warmth. A sunny burst on a crisp morning and we allow that brightness into our eyes and onto our skin – to energise and regulate our hormones
Early sleeping and rising aligns our rhythms with the Brahma Muhurta, or God’s Hour, which is actually about 90 minutes before sunrise. Waking stillness here eases us gracefully into the day, avoiding heavy eyelids later.
