REGIONAL leaders in the East Midlands will have a more influential role in shaping their rail services thanks to a new deal agreed with the Government on September 3.
The Dfr and Transport for the East Midlands (TfEM) are jointly funding two locally based officers who will work with the department and stakeholders to review and address performance issues, influence decisions and promote service enhancements, working closely with East Midlands Railway (EMR).
The agreement will last until the end of Abellio's franchise in 2027, with a 12-month notice period on either side.
However, Dfr will retain its role in monitoring and managing the delivery of the contract, and all financial responsibility and accountability for the franchise.
