The TEE2.0 services will be initially operated using high-speed trains from national operators’ fleets such as these DB ‘Velaro ICE3’ Class 407 trains, seen next to a TGV at Paris Est on August 7, 2019.

THE German government, which currently holds the rotating European Union Presidency, recently proposed creating a new Trans Europe Express (TEE) network.
It has been dubbed ‘TEE2.0’ after the original system created in the late 1950s.
The German proposals have been developed over the last year, and suggest a new multi-national but standalone train operator should operate the new network.
It would buy in services from its owners, which are envisaged as the national rail operators in participating countries.
