SEVENTY years ago agroup of enthusiastic amateurs operated their first trains on the newly preservedTalyllyn Railway, thereby launching the railway preservation movement aswe know it.
Severalofthose key figures went on to run privately operated steam locomotives from Tyseley 57 years ago,laying the foundations for today’sVintage Trains operation.
Consequently,theTyseley LocomotiveWorks open weekend on June 26-27 will be something of a party to commemorate those historic events that took place on the world’s first preserved railway seven decades earlier.
