THE first vehicle for the CoventryVery Light Rail (VLR) project is being built in the city at the NP Aerospace factory.
The lightweight prototype railcar will be powered by batteries and be able to carry up to 50 passengers (20 seated). It was developed by engineers at WMG (University ofWarwick) working with Transport Design International. Construction is expected to be finished in February 2021 ready for testing at the new rail innovation centre in Dudley.
