THE LNWR George the Fifth Steam Locomotive Trust’s project to re-create one of Crewe’s long-lost Bowen-Cooke 4-4-0s – No. 2013 Prince George – took a big step forward at the end of last year with the cutting of the locomotive’s rear main frames.
The work on the 23ft long plates was undertaken by TATA Steel of Wednesfield, and after profiling and painting they were delivered to the Trust’s Nottinghamshire base in mid-December.
