THE Aln Valley took delivery of a pair of‘Pacer’units in mid-December. On the 14th, the two cars of No. 144004 (DMS No. 55804 and DMSL No. 55827) were delivered to Lionheart station. Tested the same day, they were also noted running under their own power the following day. DMSL No. 55839 and MS No. 55852 from three-car set No. 144016 arrived on the 15th.
Two low-loaders and a support van had taken less than three hours to drive north from the Wensleydale Railway, where the DMUs had been stored temporarily. DMS No. 55816 from set No. 144016 was expected to be delivered the next day.
‘Pacer’DMSL No. 55839 immediately after unloading at Alnwick Lionheart station yard, Aln Valley Railway, on December 15. This is one of five‘Pacer’cars received by the railway.
