THE overhaul of Peckett‘M5’ 0-4-0ST Pectin (1579/1921) took a big step forward shortly before Christmas when the refurbished boiler was reunited with the frames at Yeovil Railway Centre.
The former British Aluminium Company loco last ran in April 2014 when it was withdrawn for a 10-yearly overhaul by the South West Main Line Steam Company, which operates the Yeovil site.
Much of the bottom end work has been completed in house by YRC volunteers, although the boiler overhaul was contracted out to Shaftesbury Steam Restoration at Melbury Abbas.
