THE Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has launched an enquiry into a‘near miss’between a South Western Railway train and a Network Rail mobile operations manager (MOM) on December 19.
While retrieving abag from the track at Rowlands Castle station in Hampshire, the MOM came one second from being struck by the train passing through the station at 60mph. Initial investigations suggest he was not aware of the train approaching as he had contacted the wrong signalbox to check.
