Possible re-use for
Moorswater line
IWAS interested to see in the latest edition the final train of china clay wagons leaving the Moorswater (Liskeard) depot in Cornwall.
Iama former district councillor for that area, and a few years ago considerable effort was put into proposing this short rail link to Moorswater from the existing Liskeard to Looe branch line. Even the railway authorities were receptive to the proposal, and provided a possible timetable to fit into the existing timetable.
Roads towards the ever popular fishing port at Looe are simply a nightmare and parking difficult and expensive. Using the‘china clay line’to Moorswater with a car park on existing railway land alongside the tracks seemed to make sense, especially being so close to the main A38 road.
