AFTER the success of last year’s ‘Staycation Express’operation from Skipton to Appleby, promoter Rail Charter Services (RCS) has confirmed the trains will run again in 2021.
While last year’s passenger numbers for the express – which ran for eight weeks from July 20 – exceeded all expectations, it showed there was an appetite for a different type of charter train which didn’t tie customers up all day.
Because uncertainties still remain over how the easing of any lockdown and restriction of movement will be lifted, RCS is delaying announcing its plans, but the trains will run over the Settle and Carlisle line.
Some changes are anticipated, with one less return working due to the light loadings.
