THE‘Achenseebahn’6.8km long part-rack metre gauge railway linking Jenbach and the Achensee lake in the Austrian Tyrol region will re-open after a two-year hiatus in April 2022.
On May 21 future operation was transferred to new company Achenseebahn Infrastruktur- und Betriebs-GmbH which is majority (60%) owned by the state of Tyrol with Zillertalbahn operator Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe (ZVB) and a consortium of local councils in Eben am Achensee, Jenbach and Achenkirch both owning 20% stakes.
