FOLLOWING the dispatch of Class 91 No. 91132 to be scrapped by Sims at Beeston in March, a further four of the class were dispatched on May 10 from Doncaster Belmont Yard to Sims’ Newport disposal facility.
The four were Nos. 91102, 91113, 91126 and 91129, hauled there by ROG Class 57 No. 57305.
What was surprising was that nameplates were still attached to Nos. 91102 and 91126. However, Eversholt has confirmed to The RM that the plates were removed on arrival at the scrapyard and they will be auctioned for charity at a future date.
With LNER needing only 10 Class 91s for the six Mk 4 carriage sets it is retaining, further disposals are envisaged. Likely candidates are Nos. 91103/10 4/108/112/115/116/118/121 and 125.
