Work has started on preparing 671 for its repaint back into 1960s condition as twin-car motor 281 in all-cream livery. One of the first jobs was to strip off the Metro Coastlines graphics it carried before being withdrawn from service in 2010.
FYLDE TRANSPORT TRUST
WORK is underway to repaint the Fylde Transport Trust’s Blackpool tram, No. 671, which was moved from Blackpool Transport’s Rigby Road depot to the North West Museum of Road Transport in St Helens on April 18.
The single-deck car, which last ran in Blackpool in 2010, is being repainted into 1960s all-cream livery. It will be displayed on a surviving section of the original St Helen’s tram track.
In Blackpool, No. 621, which also belongs to the trust, was used for driver and conductor refresher training in mid-May, ahead of the resumption of heritage tours on May 29.
