THE collapse, without warning, of a wall and part of the roof of the main station building at Northwich mid-morning on May 18 was fortunate to have resulted in no injuries to passengers.
A section of the glass and iron roof and a gable end above the ticket office on the Manchesterbound platform gave way, with debris landing on the track.
A partial demolition was necessary by work teams to make the station safe for use. A coach service was instigated until trains could call again, which was later the same evening.
