THE RAVENGLASS & Eskdale Railway is holding a July 10/11 gala to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Preservation Society saving the line from scrapping in 1960.
The event was scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to coronavirus. Motive power will include recently overhauled Clarkson 2-8-2 River Mite which hauled its first public train following overhaul on May 19, and being built in 1966 can claim to be the first new-build steam locomotive in the preservation era.
