THE Caledonian Railway, Brechin, Angus, has taken delivery of two three-car Class 205 ‘Berkshire’ DEMUs, previously stored at Meldon Quarry, Devon, on the Dartmoor Railway (RM April, p71).
Set No. 205032 (1132) (DMBSO No. 60150, TSO No. 60677 and DTC No. 60831), in BR green livery, is to be put into service as soon as the required checks have been
undertaken. Set No. 205028 (1128) (DMBSO No. 60146, TSO No. 60673 and DTC No. 60827), in faded Connex yellow and white livery, is in need of a comprehensive restoration. It is to become part of a project with Aberdeen University for operation with alternative fuel experiments calling for major modifications, so will not be entering passenger service for a long while.
CLASS 25 No. D7629 REAPPEARS IN A NEW GUISE: Mark Fowler’s Sulzer Type 2 is seen at Bury Bolton Street on the second day of the East Lancashire Railway’s July 1-3 diesel gala. Earlier this year it received bodywork attention and a repaint from BR green No.
D7629 into BR blue with yellow ends and TOPS number 25279.
