MODEL MARKS DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY
THE Heavy Tractor Group and Accurascale have announced a limited edition ‘OO’ gauge model of No. 37714 to mark the loco’s 60th anniversary. The run is limited to 504 models, which depicts the Type 3 in 1990s Metals Sector livery.

It will be available in both DCC-ready (guide price £169.99) and sound-fitted (guide price £259.99) versions, the sound version featuring actual recordings of No. 37714. Nameplates and depot plaques will not be fitted as standard, but will be available separately. Delivery is expected in 2023.
DESPITE its high number within the fleet, No. 37714 is actually one of the oldest Class 37s and on August 21 celebrated its 60th anniversary with a special day of running at the Great Central Railway.
The model will have a die-cast metal chassis and a backup power system to give up to 10 seconds of power-free running, flicker-free lighting, and continuous sound. The nose, cab roof and cantrail curves have been modelled from a 3D Laser scan and extensive surveys, while the bogies, fuel tanks and many other details will match the timeframe of the loco.
