Pictured outside the new shed at Westonzoyland on August 30, are the Donnelly 0-4-0VBT (dismantled for rebuilding into full working condition) behind the wasp-striped cab end of Y-type ‘Planet’ 4wP Hibberd 1830/1933) with Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust-owned Lister 4wD 42319/1956 to the right. Pulling the train is Westonzoyland’s 4wD Lister 34758/1949. Present for the event, but not pictured, were Motor Rail 40S310/1968 (awaiting attention to its brakes) and Peter Nicholson’s Lister 4wP 6299/1935 which was called into action after No. 34758 failed with a drive chain
problem.

THE newly completed loco shed and associated turntable formed the major attraction at Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum’s August 30 railway gala. The building now provides secure storage and display facilities for the Trust’s fleet of narrow gauge stock.
With the infrastructure at the centre of attention, there was no need for a visiting loco. However, there was guest motive power in the form of a hand-pump trolley built by Bill Richard of Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway utilising Hudson wheels and axle boxes.
