THE Ivatt Diesel Re-creation Society (IDRS), like all preservation groups, has had a challenging time since the Covid-19 lockdowns were imposed. However, much progress towards constructing LMS No.10000 has been achieved.
Steam-heating boilers have been obtained as the Deltic Preservation Society had decided to discontinue with steam heat in its locos. They sold a lot of spare parts to the IDRS, but the boiler shells from Nos. 55009 and 55019 had been disposed of.
Fortunately, the new owner agreed to sell both to the IDRS and they are now safely at Centenary Works, Wirksworth, awaiting refurbishment.
Shortly afterwards, the Veronica Awdry Charitable Trust donated £1000 towards this work.
