Future of steam secured after Environment Bill fears
Latest available figures show that total steam locomotive emissions were just 0.023% of total UK carbon dioxide emissions.
The sight and sound of steam at heritage railways has been secured following Government assurances that steam trains, road vehicles and boats would be within the scope of tightened environmental legislation. On November 7, WR 0-6-0PT No. 9466 was hauling public services on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
