PICTURE: GERRY MOONEY
THE restoration of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s GM 121 Class No. 134 at Inchicore has seen the loco enter the Paint Spray Facility. It was given the most thorough preparation possible, seeing decades-worth of old paint removed to reveal the bare metal, and in the process revealing the original yellow chevrons.
The bogies were also given a thorough clean, the window apertures masked up and doors sealed. The traction motors underneath the loco were also protected before spraying of the grey primer commenced. Several coats were built up, setting the loco up for the next stage that will see final preparation before No. 134 receives its new top coat of grey and yellow. No. 134 is pictured following treatment on November 10.
