THE first of four ‘Swift Express’ electric multiple units, converted from Class 321s for goods use, is expected to be ready for delivery in February.
Eversholt Rail announced in November that the former passenger sets would undergo modification by Gemini Rail Services in Wolverton.
Eversholt says the programme of work is in response to negotiations with “an everincreasing number of train operators who are seeking to capitalise on the HGV driver shortage and other logistics issues affecting supply chains across the UK.”
A concept version of the ‘Swift Express’, completed at Wabtec’s Doncaster Works, was unveiled in July 2021.
