CLASS 156s FOR BARTON: Following the withdrawal of the remaining Class 153 single-car diesel units with East Midlands Railway, services on the Bartonon-Humber route were taken over by Class 156s from December 13, meaning that trains on the line are compliant with accessibility regulations. Having been crewed by TransPennine Express colleagues on behalf of EMR since the line was transferred from Northern last May, trains are now being staffed by EMR senior conductors, but Freightliner crews have assumed temporary responsibility for driving the units while EMR drivers are trained.
No. 156473 stands at Barton-on-
Humber on December 22.

FOLLOWING crew training during the second half of 2021, Great Western Railway Class 387 units commenced operation from December 13, between Paddington and Cardiff Central.
They were initially booked for one return weekday working and limited weekend services, but will primarily be used when there is extra demand for travel, such as Six Nations Rugby matches in Cardiff.
