THE first phase of the DART+ programme, DART+ West, which will extend electrification in the greater Dublin area, was given the go-ahead by the Irish Government on December 7. The approval permits Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) to apply for a railway order in 2022 to give it powers to allow the electrification of the western commuter line between Spencer Dock and Maynooth and from Clonsilla to M3 Parkway, which reopened in 2010.
