■ REPLICA 3ft gauge Southwold Railway Sharp, Stewart 2-4-0T No. 3 Blyth, being constructed by North Bay Railway Engineering Services for Southwold Railway Trust, was run on compressed air (the wheels being on rollers) for the first time on December 3.
■ Work to stabilise Steeple Grange Light Railway’s Steeplehouse cutting, where a rock fall occurred a year ago, was completed during December. This work, along with repairs to the abutments of Porter Lane bridge reported last month, was funded by a £32,636 grant from the Tarmac Landfill Community Fund administered by the Derbyshire Environmental Trust.
