Mixed traction set for Llangollen
Corwen extension opening and pannier return hopes for this year.
LLANGOLLEN Railway Trust (LRT) operations are set to continue to use a mixture of steam, main line diesels and heritage DMUs this season. GWR 2-8-0 No. 3802 is expected back in traffic from April 9. In mid-February, the engine was at Carnforth for tyre turning. It initially moved to Carnforth in October, but the contractor was unable to carry out the work, so it returned to Llangollen to haul the Santa trains. Post-Christmas, the motion and pistons were stripped for examination and the vacuum cylinder was refurbished.
