FROM THE RM JUNE 1968
The appropriately named ‘West Country’ No. 34011 Tavistock leaves Tavistock North with an up service on July 17, 1962. This loco was withdrawn at the end of 1963 and scrapped the following year.

PASSENGER trains between Okehampton and Bere Alston (22¾ miles), on the former London & South Western Railway main line between Exeter and Plymouth, were withdrawn by the Western Region of British Railways from May 6. This involved closure of Bridestowe Halt, Lydford, Brentnor, and Tavistock North stations. Separate services now operate between Exeter and Okehampton, and Plymouth and Gunnislake.
In a similar view to the above shot, this is Tavistock North station as it looks today. Although the station building and down platform remains largely intact (left), new housing has been built on the trackbed and site of the up platform.
