SCOTLAND’S new Transport Minister, Jenny Gilruth, visited the construction site of the new Inverness Airport station at the end of February, to see first-hand the progress that has been made.
The £14m project on the line to Aberdeen, will deliver a two-platform station, creating a passing loop on the existing single line. There will be step-free access provided by lifts and 64 parking spaces, disabled parking and electric car charging points.
Due for completion in December this year, the station will serve the new town of Tornagrain as well as improving travel links to the growing Inverness Airport Business Park. Two buses an hour will shuttle between the station and airport terminal. The level crossing at Dalcross will be closed.
