HAVING been steamed for the first time on March 7 by its builders, North Bay Railway Engineering Services, (picture, RM April), Southwold Railway Trust’s (SRT) replica 3ft gauge Southwold Railway Sharp, Stewart 2-4-0T No. 3 Blyth was relocated to SRT’s Steamworks site in Southwold where it ran on the short 3ft gauge demonstration line for the first time on April 10.
Aside from the miniature railway at Steamworks, this was hailed as the first time a loco had moved under its own steam in the Southwold area since 1929. The SRT is now working on the systems and approvals necessary for Blyth to haul a passenger vehicle train.
