THE third fleet of wagons financed by Swiss firm Wascosa for Network Rail/GB Railfreight infrastructure operations, FEA-W multi-modal flats, are now arriving in large numbers. In total 260 flats (Euro-type Sgnss) Nos. 81 70 4524 001-4 to 260-6 are on order, supplied by Greenbrier Europe from its Polish facility at Wagony-Swidnica.
They are similar to earlier FEA deliveries, with changes including ‘spats’ over the bogies plus compact buffing and drawgear. A variety of engineering modules will be carried by the wagons, allowing them to replace existing ‘Salmon/Tench/Mullet’ wagons that date back to the 1950s.
