‘Q1’ gets attention
BULLEID ‘Q1’ 0-6-0 No. C1 (33001) is the latest locomotive in the National Collection to receive ongoing asbestos remediation work.
In mid-June, the loco was split from its tender at York as the tender does not need any work. The loco will be worked on at night in a sealed working area in the National Railway Museum’s Great Hall around the engine.
Once finished, the tender will be reattached and it will go back on display in the hall. An NRM spokesman said there should not be any visible changes once the work has been completed.
