A THIRD Pathfinder tour out of four which had been planned this summer to run over the Cambrian Main Line from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth and Pwllheli on August 20, featuring Network Rail’s Class 97 locos, has been deferred until the spring of 2023.
The alteration follows a change to the national timetable from May and sees an additional Transport for Wales train between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth using the path the special used in May.
However, to allow the charter to run on the September 9 train, the TfW service train will be a rail replacement bus.
Celebrating the golden jubilee of the series of return to steam railtours in 1972, WR 4-6-0 No. 7029 Clun Castle runs through Leamington Spa Station on June 11, working a Vintage Trains special from Birmingham Snow Hill to Cardiff over former Great Western lines via Oxford and Swindon.
