A RECENTLY-launched DCRail service, moving construction soils from Acton in West London to the Maurice Hill Transport rail depot at Burton-upon-Trent, is expected to be increased to 21 wagons to improve efficiency.
Currently consisting of 18 JNA-T wagons, each train has a payload of around 1350 tonnes, which is transferred to lorries at Burton to make the remainder of its journey to a local quarry, where the soils are being used in restoration work.
