AN unusual opportunity to link the Irish Sea with the North Sea by steam will occur on September 10, when the Railway Touring Company runs its ‘Coast to Coast Express’.
Using a steam loco from the West Coast Railway’s pool, it’s an early 06.20 start from Liverpool Lime Street. The journey will include some of the north’s best scenery, with the train routed from Manchester via the renowned Hope Valley to Sheffield.
The train takes the route via Swinton, Church Fenton and York to Scarborough.
