PASSING through Wigston on the Midland Main Line today, it would be hard to recognise that the area was once a busy and complex triangular junction with another line through the triangle.
Add in three stations – Wigston South, Wigston Magna and Wigston Glen Parva – an engine shed, a wagon repair shop, nine signalboxes and miles of wagon sidings and it is easy to see how the town, just south of Leicester, had a major importance in railway terms.
