LAST month’s photo (right, by Bernard Mills) was a tricky one showing GBRf’s No. 66790 (which was top-and-tailing a weedkilling train with No. 66752) at the northern end of Bere Alston station in Devon, where trains on the branch from Plymouth to Gunnislake have to reverse. The loco is looking along the closed formation towards Tavistock, which is proposed for reopening as a first stage to possibly reopening the former LSWR main line to Okehampton, and thus create a second through route to Exeter.
