MARITIME Transport has agreed terms to extend the rail terminal at SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway, which will double its capacity.
The company will also become the rail operator of SEGRO’s Northampton Logistics Park in a separate deal, which includes the long-term lease of the 17-acre intermodal terminal there and a wider management role.
From July 3, operations at Hams Hall Rail Freight Terminal near Birmingham transferred to Maritime under a long-term leasing agreement with Associated British Ports.
Commenting on the SEGRO announcements, Maritime executive chairman John Williams said: “Building and operating modern, inland rail freight interchanges, supported by the largest dedicated vehicle fleet in the country, enables us to deliver terminal to terminal rail solutions and highly efficient rail to door and door to rail services for our customers who are looking for long-term, supply chain protection and sustainable transport solutions.”
