HAPPY RETURN FOR ‘EXECUTIVE’: To mark 40 years since the introduction of High Speed Trains on the North East-South West route, CrossCountry power car No. 43384 was repainted in Intercity ‘Executive’ livery and reunited with its original car and unit numbers (43184 and 253051 respectively). The sets carried their ‘as built’ colours when NE-SW operation began in 1982, but ‘Executive’ would become prevalent after being trialled the following year. No. 43184’s repaint was undertaken at Great Western Railway’s Plymouth Laira depot. The power car is seen leading a Plymouth-Edinburgh service at Derby on July 6.
