ON February 24, exactly a year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began, a ceremony was held at Kyiv’s main station, when a memorial to the 353 Ukrainian railway workers who had been killed in the previous year was unveiled.
The chairman of state railway Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) Mr Oleksandr Kamyshin also revealed that Russian attacks on the rail system – which have occurred across the country, even close to the borders with the European Union – had also resulted in 819 employees being injured during the year.
